WYANDOTTE – The body of a 26-year-old Oakland County man who allegedly committed suicide was discovered floating in the Detroit River by fishermen April 18.
Police Chief Dan Grant said two fishermen were out Monday afternoon near Ecorse Creek, just off Mud Island when they found the man’s body. The body is badly decomposed, according to police. Grant said the body had been in the water for a while.
The man had parked his car on the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit, leaving the keys locked inside. There was allegedly a suicide note inside as well.
Authorities said the man — identified by the Wayne County Medical Examiner, Grant said — had been missing since March.
Police and firefighters, Wayne County Sheriff deputies, and the U.S. Coast Guard assisted in pulling the body from the water at the Wyandotte boat launch.
