LINCOLN PARK – Following a special meeting of the city council, officials will entertain public comment next month on the proposed demolition of two buildings and five garages that have been deemed hazardous.

Officials met on June 20 to review recommendations made by the Dangerous Building Board following its meeting last month. City officials confirmed the panel’s recommendations, citing the hazardous conditions created by buildings that have not been properly maintained.

A public hearing on the demolitions has been scheduled for July 5, during which the owners of the structures will be allowed to show cause why the building in question should not be taken down.

The buildings being considered for demolition include a house in the 1900 block of Paris; a building in the 1500 block of Fort Street; and garages in the 1300 block of Merrill, the 700 block of Ford, the 1600 block of Richmond, the 1500 block of Wilson and the 1500 block of Riverbank.

According to city records, the property owners had been issued orders by code enforcement officials to make necessary repairs but have failed to comply.
