DEARBORN — A 21-year-old woman from Southfield died following a crash between a vehicle and motorcycle Aug. 8.

While investigating the scene, police were able to determine the motorcycle was traveling north on Southfield Freeway near Ford Road about midnight when it rear-ended a Dodge.

Both the driver and passenger were thrown from the motorcycle, but were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 21-year-old Detroit resident, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital.

The Southfield woman, a passenger on the motorcycle, died at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge, a 19-year-old Detroit resident, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

It is unknown if alcohol played a factor in the crash, but police believe speeding by the motorcycle was a contributing factor.
The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with additional information regarding this crash is asked to call the Police Department at 943-2240 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-773-2587.
