DEARBORN — Ali Mohamad-Sahrif Al-Aboosi, 45, of Dearborn was sentenced to three years probation and placed on the Michigan’s public sex offender registry after he pleaded no contest to sexually assaulting a woman in Canton.
Al-Aboosi first faced one count of assault with intent to commit sexual penetration and one count of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct with a 10-year and two-year prison sentence, respectively, if convicted.
During an Aug. 15 court appearance, Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Michael Callahan announced the sentencing after Al-Aboosi pleaded no contest to the assault with intent to commit sexual penetration charge.
The fourth degree criminal sexual conduct charge was dismissed under the plea agreement.
Al-Aboosi allegedly picked up a woman near the intersection of Ford and Telegraph roads April 12 after she responded to a job for cleaning houses.
Al-Aboosi drove the woman to a vacant house near Lilley and Warren in Canton where the assault occurred. While at the house, the woman was able to fight off Al-Aboosi and run to a nearby house to seek help.
Al-Aboosi fled and was arrested by police three hours after the reported incident.
He will be listed as a registered sex offender for life on the Michigan public sex offender registry as a result of the sentencing.
