DEARBORN — The preliminary examination for Police officer Justin Smith was moved back a week from Sept. 9 to Sept. 16 in 19th District Court.

The preliminary exam is now now scheduled to take place before 19th District Court Judge William Hultgren at 9 a.m. Sept. 16.

Smith is facing second-degree criminal sexual conduct and common law offenses after he allegedly groped a woman.

He was arraigned on the charges Aug. 28 in 19th District Court. Smith was released on a $10,000 personal bond and has been suspended without pay.

The 36-year-old was involved in the incident in May when a woman claims he groped her during a traffic stop.

Dearborn detectives are investigating the allegations made by the woman.
