Resurfacing of Empire Street under way

September 9, 2016 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

TAYLOR — Resurfacing of Empire Street from Allen to Northline roads began Sept. 6

The city contracted with Al’s Asphalt Paving to do the work.

The existing asphalt surface will be pulverized and removed, the stone base will be constructed, graded and compacted and the final road surface will be constructed with two layers of asphalt.

The work will be done in stages over a period of approximately one to two weeks. During this time residents may lose access to driveways and the front or side of their house or building for short periods of time.

The street will be closed to traffic during working hours, except for emergencies and will be open to allow traffic to continue after working hours.

Vehicles should be parked in other locations during construction. Residents may park on side streets during the time access to their driveways is prohibited.

Trash pickup will continue on regularly scheduled days, and trash containers should be placed at the edge of the street. On side streets, position the containers such that they will be away from parked vehicles and be able to be picked up by the waste hauler.
