Clarence Randall teacher honored for outstanding service

TAYLOR — Like many teachers, Donna Cahalan usually spends some of her own money supplying her third-grade Clarence Randall Elementary School classroom, but she recently got some help.

Cahalan was recently honored with a $490 gift card and iPad from Walmart as part of its Commander in Teach(ers) program. Walmart estimates that teachers spend about that much out of their own pocket during a school year.

Cahalan has been with the district for 19 years. She was nominated by school principal Cynthia Meszaros.

Taylor Walmart manager Aaron Quimby and co-manager David Williams made the presentation.

There are 671 students enrolled at Clarence Randall, from kindergarten to fifth grade.
