DPS school bus catches fire; no injuries reported

DEARBORN — The engine of a Dearborn Public Schools bus caught fire Sept. 26 while traveling from Dearborn High School.

Students were safely evacuated from the bus by the driver. No injuries were reported from the incident.

Dearborn Schools dispatched a second bus to pick up the students and transport them home. They were about 30 minutes late arriving home.

Police said the engine began smoking near eastbound Ford Road and Evergreen.

The Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
