Free Household Hazardous Waste Day Oct. 8 for Wayne County residents

Wayne County is sponsoring a free Household Hazardous Waste Day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 8 at the Wayne County Community College District Downriver Campus, 21000 Northline Road, Taylor.

The event is open all other Wayne County residents. Proof of residency is required.

On-site volunteers will collect the household generated hazardous materials, including: paints, stains, dyes, glue, carpet cleaner, furniture and nail polish, bathroom cleaners, stain removers, solvents, pharmaceutical waste, fertilizer and lawn chemicals.

Additional items accepted include antifreeze, motor oil, automotive and dry cell batteries, fluorescent bulbs, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, thermostats, computer parts, printers, keyboards and cell phones.

This program no longer accepts CRT televisions or CRT monitors.

This is the last HHW event in 2016.
