Cops edge firefighters in annual golf outing

DEARBORN — The Annual Dearborn Fire vs. Dearborn Police Ryder Cup golf match was held Sept. 16 at Mystic Creek Golf Course in Camp Dearborn. This years 27-hole shootout was close, but DPD won the match 16.5-15.5.

The match consisted of 16 firefighters vs. 16 police officers paired up in foursomes.

“This event is always fun and a great way for both departments to compete and have fun together,” Fire Captain Steve Worden said.

The day endeds with the tradition dinner and socializing. This year’s dinner was provided by Joe Bazzi from Byblos Banquet Center, 7258 Chase Road.

“Joe is a great leader in our community and is always there for the Fire and Police departments,” Wordon said. “He continuously helps needy families and citizens when called upon. We can’t thank him enough for his continued support”
