DEARBORN — The Dearborn Public Schools has a tradition of welcoming and encouraging senior citizen residents to attend school events by offering free admission and other special discounts via its Premier Citizen Discount Card.
DPS residents over the age of 60 can go to any Dearborn public school or the Administration Building to pick up this year’s Premier Citizen Discount Card.
“Dearborn seniors with the Premier Citizen Discount Card can enjoy discounts or even free admission on school programs including musical performances, sporting events, and even lunch in the cafeteria,” Supt. Glenn Maleyko said. “We are proud that many residents in the over 60 crowd are alumni and we welcome them back to enjoy the events and activities that occur in our schools.”
The card is free and offers discounts on school activities and school merchandise, including:
• Free admission to attend all school-sponsored activities except plays, for which discount price tickets are available.
• Discounts on select Community Education classes.
• Ten percent discount on merchandise sold at school stores. (Limit four items per year.)
• Participation in school lunch programs at reduced prices. Reduced price is 10 percent discount on the total purchase. (Seniors must contact the school in advance to participate.)
“Our students are talented, hard working and have a lot to offer,” Maleyko said. “Community members will be proud of the accomplishments of the young people in their neighborhood. We hope that everyone over the age of 60 will pick up a Premier Citizen Discount Card and take advantage of the free admission and discounts to have an entertaining or informative experience in the Dearborn Public Schools.”
