Retired LP canine Aegis dies

LINCOLN PARK – Retired police canine Aegis passed away last week.

Police said Aegis served the city from 2007 to 2014. Together, Aegis and Officer Dean Vann were responsible for numerous felony arrests and numerous narcotic seizures. The duo was also responsible for the seizure of approximately $800,000 in cash.

Aegis and Vann were honored many times during their seven years together, including Officer of the Month and Officer of the Year in 2013. The pair also received a National Association of Professional Canine Handlers award in 2012 and Narcotic Detection Team of the Year honors.
