DEARBORN – Collection of yard waste that is bagged or put into containers and set at the curbside has been extended to the week of Dec. 12 to 16, the city announced.
The curbside pickup of bagged or containerized yard waste and leaves ends with each neighborhood’s trash pickup day.
So, residents with a Monday trash district will get their last curbside yard waste pickup for 2016 on Dec. 12. Residents with a Tuesday trash pickup will be served by their last curbside yard waste collection on Dec. 13.
The pattern will continue through Dec. 16.
Yard waste includes grass clippings, weeds, shrubs and brush trimmings. It also includes leaves that are put in proper containers or paper yard waste bags. Set bagged or containerized yard waste at the curb between 5 p.m. the night before trash day and 7 a.m. on trash day.
The curbside collection program is separate from the collection of loose leaves that are raked into the street. The loose leaf collection program was set to end Dec. 2.
For the curbside collection program, put yard waste into yard waste paper bags or 20- to 32-gallon container. Mark the container with a yard waste sticker. Stickers are available free at Dearborn libraries and the Dearborn Administrative Center.
Yard waste in plastic bags or cardboard boxes will not be picked up.
Unbundled or improperly bundled brush requires a special pickup. Call 943-2433 for fees.
Curbside collection of bagged or containerized yard waste begins again the week of March 13, 2017.
