LINCOLN PARK – A 17-year-old Southgate boy died Dec. 1 after three days on life support so he could donate his organs, according to his family members.

Adam Cross, was a backseat passenger Nov. 28, when the car he was in was rear ended by a tow truck. Cross and his two friends were headed north on Dix Road, approaching Goddard Road in a Honda Civic, police said.

A vehicle in front of the Honda reportedly stopped abruptly and then the driver of the Honda slammed on his brakes. The Honda became disabled and was rear ended by the tow truck behind them.

Cross, a student at Asher Alternative School in Southgate, was rushed to Beaumont Hospital – Dearborn, with serious injuries. The tow truck driver and driver and front seat passenger in the Honda also were transported to the hospital. Their conditions are not known.

The Downriver Crash Team is investigating the crash. Police said it was raining and dark at the time of the crash.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help Cross’ family with funeral expenses, www.gofundme.com/funeral-arrangements-for-adam-dean.
