TAYLOR – Erica Freebern was going about her day with her three dogs about 3:15 p.m. Dec. 11 when a Saturn Vue crashed through her living room.

“Thankfully me and my three puppies were not physically hurt,” said Freebern, 25, noting that she was renting the house and didn’t think to get renter’s insurance.

Police said an SUV swerved on Beech Daly Road between Eureka and Pennsylvania and crossed the centerline, striking the Vue. The driver of the Vue reportedly lost control and came to rest in Freebern’s living room, causing extensive damage.

The SUV that crossed the centerline fled the scene, while witnesses reported the Vue traveled through several yards before coming to a rest in Freebern’s house. She said the driver, who has not been identified, was unconscious and had his foot stuck on the gas pedal.

Police are investigating the crash.

“The worst part is that I no longer have a home,” Freebern said. “The damage is too bad for me to stay there.”

Freebern set up a GoFundMe page to help her get another place to live and get back on her feet. She said every little bit helps and is grateful for the support.
