A new driver service that has been expanded throughout Michigan can help those who want to responsibly welcome the new year. DriverOnTap was founded in the greater Lansing area where it has been operational for more than a year.

Unlike taking a taxi or Uber, DriverOnTap provides a driver to chauffeur the client in his or her own car. Vehicles are not left behind. So one can drive to the celebration or a night out at a restaurant, bar or friend’s house, and DriverOnTap will drive clients home in their own cars. No designated driver needed.

“We want people to celebrate and enjoy the holidays, but we also want them and others on the road to be safe,” said Jose Ramirez, DriverOnTap chairman. “If someone has consumed alcohol, DriverOnTap is a safe and convenient alternative to driving impaired.”

Reservations are made using the DriverOnTap app — for Apple and android devices — up to six hours in advance. The app can be downloaded at www.DriverOnTap.com.

Before clients confirm their reservations, they will know who their drivers are, the time of pickup and the cost.

Drivers are professional, licensed and insured, Ramirez said.
