William Rollins, 56, of Taylor is jailed in the Macomb County Jail for allegedly attempting to have sex with a minor who actually was a sheriff’s deputy. He is jailed on a $75,000 bond.
TAYLOR — A Taylor man allegedly thought he was going to have sex with an underage girl on Jan. 30. When he drove to meet “her” in Clinton Township he was instead met by Macomb County Sheriff deputies.
William Rollins, 56, is being held in the Macomb County Jail on a $75,000 bond for child sexually abusive commercial activity. He was reportedly chatting with whom he thought was an underage girl on a website being monitored by the Macomb Area Computer Enforcement, a Macomb County Sheriff’s Office reserve computer crimes team.
Rollins allegedly set a time to meet the officer, who was posing as an underage girl, on Feb. 12, in Macomb County. The two chatted on the website, then by email and then by text.
Rollins is due back in Clinton Township Court 41-B at 9 a.m. Feb. 27. He could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
