March 9, 2017 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

Photo courtesy by James Empson A utility pole and wires caught fire March 8 in the 2200 block of Hawthrone in Dearborn as a result of high winds. The fire began about 1:30 p.m., also causing a thick Comcast cable to collapse and a tree branch to fall in front of the house. Winds reached up to 50 mph, leaving almost 1 million people without power in the metropolitan Detroit area. That number had been reduced to 635,000 as of publication.
