DEARBORN — Lowrey Middle School students will bring to life the adventures of Shrek, his wisecracking donkey and a feisty princess when they present “Shrek The Musical Jr.” on stage at 6 p.m. May 11 and 12.
Tickets are $5 at the school’s box office beginning at 5:30 p.m. prior to each performance. Lowrey is at 6601 Jonathan.
Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, “Shrek Jr.” is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family. In the story, told through songs and entertaining dialogue, Shrek the ogre leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance.
The play is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and popular Broadway musical.
The cast includes 25 students in grades 4 to 8.
The role of Shrek will be performed by sixth-grader Hadi Mhanna. Princess Fionna will be played by Amal Taher, seventh grade; Nour Nassar, seventh grade; and Zeina Nassar, fourth grade. The role of Donkey is played by seventh-graders Alfadel Alkatumi and Mohamad Hamid. Lord Farquad is played by sixth-grader Muhamed Binlam. The Story Tellers are sixth-graders Noor Mezahi and Rumaysa Saleh and seventh-grader Aya Channir.
Adults involved with the performance are Ashley Solomon, director; Jennifer Pegouske, music; Bridget Leary, choreography; and Nathan Dobert, lights and sound.
