WYANDOTTE – Third Friday activities will spread to Saturday as the inaugural Bark on Biddle closes Biddle from Oak to Eureka June 16 and 17 so dogs and owners can enjoy pet-friendly events.
The event, which runs noon to 9 p.m. June 16 and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, will have “paws-on” activities for pooches and people, including performances by Ultimate Air Dogs, Disc Dogs of Michigan and search and rescue demonstrations.
Dog owners can let their pets test their skills on an agility course and clock their speed using radar while on the run. Prizes for select events will be awarded throughout the weekend.
Julie Law of 360 Event Management said dogs should be on a leash, preferably not the retractable type. Waste containers will allow owners to scoop their pet’s poop, and a watering station will keep canine companions well-hydrated.
Animal rescue groups will have animals on site in need of adoption. While final vetting and adoptions will occur after the event, people can view the pets available and start the process during Bark on Biddle.
When two-legged adult participants need a break, they can go to the Bark Garden to sample craft beers and Tito’s Vodka, a corn-based vodka made in Austin, Texas. Tito’s will donate $1 to the Wyandotte Animal Group Animal Rescue for each drink purchased during the event.
Other pet-related vendors will offer samples and products for sale during the two days.
