Permit parking addresses problems on 3 Taylor streets

June 21, 2017 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

By THE CITY OF TAYLOR
For the Sunday Times Newspapers

TAYLOR — Permit parking will be introduced to specific streets in the city to alleviate excessive parking by nonresidents and allows for enforcement of violators.

The City Council, at its May 16 meeting, approved the Residential Parking Program ordinance, establishing permit parking for specific blocks on three streets — Huron, Mayfair and Weddel — from the alley north of Ecorse Road to Philomene beginning July 30.

On-street parking in designated areas is limited to resident vehicles with a residential parking permit or guest vehicles with a guest parking permit. Homes on the three streets will receive two resident parking permit stickers; and two temporary parking cards for guests and service workers.

Daily permits are available for special gatherings. Arrangements will be made ahead of time by contacting the Police Department Records Bureau.

The blocks will be posted with street signage stating “Resident Parking Only.” Violators can be cited with a ticket resulting in a $100 fine.

Taylor residents with all outstanding fines due the city paid are eligible for RPP permits. Permits may be obtained by mail or in person at the Records Bureau, 23515 Goddard Road. Applicants must present proof of residency and a copy of the vehicle registration — or letter from employer if the vehicle is employer-owned.

The application deadline is July 17.

For an application or more information, go to the Records Bureau or call 734-374-1535.
