DEARBORN — A $5,000 reward has been offered for information that helps prosecute the person who tied an eight-month-old kitten to a picker bush with a rope tied tightly around its neck.

The kitten was found in front of Ford World Headquarters and is being taken care of by Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit.

FAMD offered a $2,500 reward, but that was matched by an anonymous donor to take the reward to $5,000.

“This kitten is a fighter and is very sweet,” FAMD Executive Director Elaine Greene said, “He was probably there for a few days. He had surgery (Tuesday) at Vet Select in Dearborn and will recuperate at the shelter. Somebody had to have seen this horrible incident.

“Please contact the shelter at 313-943-2607 with any information so we can prosecute this person.”

Surgery is expensive for shelter animals, Greene said. To donate to help pay for the kitten’s surgery, go to www.metrodetroitanimals.org.
