RIVERVIEW – Police are looking for a man, recorded on surveillance video, who stole a Sony PlayStation 4, valued at $300, at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 4 from GameStop, 17124 Fort St.
The store assistant manager said the man entered the store earlier, about 3:15 p.m., and attempted to buy a PS4 console and three games, but his credit card was declined. He said the man then looked at a stack of game consoles longingly before leaving the store.
The assistant manager said he then received an anonymous phone call allegedly from a police officer, saying his friend was coming in to buy a PS4 console.
Two hours later the man returned, went to the front counter, and, claiming that he had poor eyesight, asked to look at a console up close. After the employee obliged, the man grabbed the PS4 out of his hands and ran from the store with it. He was last seen running south on Fort Street toward Huntington House Apartments.
The stolen PS4 has a serial number of MD61313862.
The man’s image was captured on surveillance video. He is black, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a black do-rag, shirt and shorts.
