DEARBORN — In honor of Veterans Day, the city of Dearborn recognized the municipal employees who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces and who continue to serve their community.
The city employs 97 veterans, who work in departments across, including Police, Fire, Recreation, Public Works, Dispatch, Management Information Systems, Courts, Property Maintenance and Development Services, and Housing.
Those who agreed to be recognized by name are listed alphabetically below.
• Sgt. Michael Ball works in the Dearborn Police Department. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1987 to 1994 including time in Rome, Italy.
• Christopher Brayman works in the Dearborn Police Department. He served in the U.S. Army from 1986 to 1991, assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division out of Ft. Bragg, which was deployed during Desert Storm.
• Thomas A. Chinchak works in the Water Department. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1984 to 1990 at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska.
• Brad Clair works in the Dearborn Police Department. He is an E8 with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, serving since 2003 with time spent in the Great Lakes, Texas and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
• John Connolly works in Property Maintenance and Development Services. He was a specialist E4, serving in the U.S. Army from 1982 to 1985, including time in Germany.
• John Davidson works in Property Maintenance and Development Services. He served as a sergeant in U.S. Marine Corps from 1985 to 2000.
• Jacob Claus works in the Dearborn Police Department. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marines, serving from 2006 to 2011
• Gary B. Filiak works in Recreation and Parks. He was an SP/4 in the U.S. Army, serving from 1971 to 1973 in Miesau, Germany.
• Kenneth Lee Harrison works in MIS. He was an E-4 in the U.S. Army, serving from 1979 to 1985, including time in Germany.
• Judge L. Eugene Hunt Jr. works in the 19th District Court. He was a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1974 to 1976 in Brunswick, Maine.
• Tyron Johnson works in Property Maintenance and Development Services. He was an E6, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1981 to 2002 on the USS Detroit AOE.
• David Lambrix works in the Fire Department. He was an EM2 in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1984 to 1988 in Alameda, CA.
• Edwin V. Laplaunt works in the Water Department. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving from 2009 to 2015 in Afghanistan.
• Andrew Lenaghan works in the Fire Department. He was a sergeant, serving with the U.S. Air Force from 1985 to 1989, including time in the United Kingdom.
• Alan Leveille works in the Police Department. He was an E-4 in the U.S. Army, serving from 1993 to 1998 in California, Germany, Bosnia, Hungary, and Kentucky.
• Cpl. Michael Nelson works in the Dearborn Police Department. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving from 1982 to 1985 with the 82nd Airborne Division based at Ft. Bragg, N.C.
• Mark Pelaccio works in the Powerhouse. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1981 to 1987 at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, Oscoda.
• Nick Pelaccio retired from Public Works. He was a staff sergeant, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1969 at K.I. Sawyer, Marquette County.
• Walter W. Radu works in the Fire Department. He was a petty officer third class, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1989 to 1993 including time on the USS Cushing, DD-985, Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor.
• Michael D. Richard works in the Fire Department. He was an HM2 E5 corpsman, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1996 to 2001 in Knoxville, Tenn.
• John Rivera works in Recreation and Parks. He was an SP4, serving in the U.S. Army in 1968 in Vietnam.
• Chuck Roberts works in the Housing Division. He was a corporal in the U.S. Marines, serving from 1976 to 1979 in Yokosuka, Japan.
• Domenico A. Rossi works in Public Works. He was a master sergeant, serving in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1992, including time in Vietnam.
• Bob Schuelke works in the Department of Public Works. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1966 to 1970 at the Royal Air Force Base in Alconbury, England.
• John Stankey works in the Department of Public Works. He was a corporal, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1981 to 1985 including time in Hawaii.
• Jack Tate works at the Dearborn Historical Museum. He was an SP5, serving in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962 and stationed at Fort Benning.
• Michael Yax works in the Powerhouse. He was an SP4 in the U.S. Army, serving from 1985 to 1988 at Ft. Richardson, Alaska.
