Registration under way for day camp program
DEARBORN — Registration is under way for the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department’s “Summer Camp at the Center,” conducted at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.
Tailored to youngsters ages 5 to 11, “Summer Camp at The Center” is divided into seven, one-week sessions — each of which has a special theme — and features indoor and outdoor activities, such as active group games, arts and crafts, rock wall climbing and swimming in the leisure pool.
Sessions run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional child care is available from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 to 5 p.m. at a cost of $3 per half hour.
The cost per week is $140 for passholders, $170 for residents and $200 for non-residents. Siblings receive a $20-per-week discount.
All camp counselors are either certified elementary school teachers or university students majoring in education, and the camper-to-counselor ratio is 10-1.
Registration, which takes place at the service desk of the Ford Center, includes submission of a copy of the child’s birth certificate, a health form and a liability waiver, as well as either a $25 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit or payment in full.
Parents remitting the $25 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit — along with the required paperwork — can reserve a spot for their child in any of the seven sessions. The deposit will be applied toward to the total registration cost when the remaining balance is paid, which must be no later than 3 p.m. the Friday before the child’s camping session begins.
