MELVINDALE – The City Council approved the sale of four vacant lots to National Construction for new house construction Oct. 17, hoping it will put the properties back on the tax rolls.
The council approved the sale of four lots, for $3,000 each, to Musa Shohatee of National Construction Inc.
Building Official Brad Burns said the four lots are adjoining in pairs, with two at 18886 and 18900 Wood St., and two lots at 17346 and 17352 Harman.
National Construction official Rose Dakroub said she believed the lot price was fair based on the value that will be added to them.
“We want to start creating a new scheme for the neighborhood,” Dakroub said.
Builder Musa Shohatee of National Construction said ground will be broken and foundations poured in April once weather permits.
Burns said National Construction must obtain a building permit by April 1, after which it will have 18 months to complete the four houses.
Mayor Stacy Bazman said she hopes the new residential construction will be a positive addition for the city.
