DEARBORN – The city is helping gather toys for children in need in Dearborn and the surrounding area through Dec. 18.
The City Clerk’s Office, Police Department and Fire Department are accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for the annual Toys for Tots program.
Toys for Tots is organized by the Marine Corps Reserves. Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Garden City and Redford are included in a single “area.” Local 1st Battalion 24th Marines is assisting with the program.
Organizers say donating to the program provides an opportunity to share the holiday spirit with children in the community.
“It is always a pleasure to do the Toys for Tots Program during the holiday season,” said Phil Smith, Toys for Tots area coordinator. “The city of Dearborn has always been an instrumental part of this program.”
The list of dropoff spots offered by the city is:
• The City Clerk’s Office: First floor of the Dearborn Administrative Center, 16901 Michigan Ave.
• Dearborn Police Department: 16099 Michigan Ave.
• Dearborn Fire Station 1: 3750 Greenfield Road
• Dearborn Fire Station 2: 19800 W. Outer Drive
