TAYLOR — Taylor Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, known for colorful gardens during the warmer months, is extending the plant season this year with the opportunity to purchase poinsettia plants.
Taylor Conservatory Foundation is sponsoring a poinsettia fundraiser. The proceeds from the sale benefit the gardens and educational programs throughout the year.
Greenhouse-grown 7- and 8-inch multi-bloom plants are $14.99 and $24.99, respectively, and are available in red, white, pink and marble which is pink and cream. Orders must be placed by Nov. 23 by telephone at 888-383-4108 or online at www.taylorconservatory.org.
Pickup will be between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Nov. 30 at Webb Mechanical & Electrical Contracting, 12681 Delta.
While there are now several color choices available, traditional red, is still said to be the most popular. The bright “blooms” are bracts, modified leaves and are part of the Euphorbiaceae family.
Another family event, Garden Lights Aglow, on Nov. 24, will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature lighting of the Conservatory tree, bonfire fun, festive cookies and hot chocolate, spirited music and a visit by the man of the hour, jolly ol’ Santa Clause.
Taylor Conservatory Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to create beautiful public spaces, promote the arts and sciences, and preserve the natural environment.
