DEARBORN – The city’s two separate programs to collect leaves from in front of residential properties are both end Dec. 14, with the last collection on a neighborhood’s trash day.
The first program, the collection of loose leaves raked into the street, is scheduled to end Dec. 14, with the last pickup on an area’s trash day that week. Collection of loose leaves is not guaranteed in front of every household that final week.
Weather conditions may change the loose leaf collection schedule.
Check the loose leaf collection schedule on cityofdearborn.org or call the Leaf Hotline at 313-943-2444 to know where crews will be on trash days Dec. 10 to 14.
Curbside yard waste collection of bagged leaves
The city’s second program, the curbside collection of bagged or containerized leaves, also ends Dec. 14. Pickup is guaranteed if leaves are bagged or containerized. Pickup is on trash day.
After Dec. 14, the city’s trash contractor cannot pick up bagged leaves or bagged yard waste. They can’t be picked up again until March, when the curbside collection of yard waste begins again.
If residents don’t want to store their bagged leaves or bagged yard waste all winter, they can take it to the DPW yard on the third Saturday of each month for disposal. The next scheduled DPW yard day is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 15.
