MELVINDALE – A warrant was issued for the arrest of the late David Carter’s girlfriend, who is sought as the suspect in his murder, Police Chief John Allen announced Jan. 31.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Aaron Garcia told WXYZ Channel 7 that Tamera “Tammy” Williams, 39, who has no criminal history, and was Carter’s girlfriend for six months, is suspected in his murder. Garcia characterized Williams as “manipulative” and “evil.”
Garcia told WXYZ that Williams “took off” when she realized she was being investigated for the murder. He said she took a train from Ann Arbor to Brooklyn, N.Y., and has many contacts throughout the country through her affiliation with the Order of the Eastern Star, the oldest sorority-based black women’s organization in the United States.
Carter’s sister, Tasia Carter Jackson, said Williams spent a lot of time with her brother, and she was suspicious when she did not know where he was.
Jackson said Carter did not show up to work at a local automotive supplier on Sept. 30, a Sunday, for which he would have earned triple time. When Jackson checked his apartment, it was unlocked, which she indicated to the media was also out-of-character for him.
Carter’s remains were found Oct. 1 along I-75, south of Findlay, Ohio. DNA testing confirmed that the remains were his.
Garcia told WXYZ that what Williams did to Carter was “horrible” and “brutal.”
A cash reward is offered for information leading to Williams’ arrest through Detroit’s Most Wanted, by calling 313-234-5656.
Wilson is 5 feet 9 inches tall, 190 pounds, and has distinctive tattoos. Garcia said she may have changed her hair style to alter her appearance.
