DEARBORN — Wayne County Prosector Kym Worthy charged Allen Sherrill, 27, of Detroit in connection with the March 1 murder of Junika Hardy, 28, of Livonia following a shooting in Dearborn.
Sherrill was arraigned on first degree murder, concealed weapon and felony firearm charges March 5 in front of 19th District Court Judge Sam Salamey.
According to the Wayne County Prosector’s Office press release, a probable cause conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 15 in 19th District Court. Salamey ordered Sherill to remain in custody without bond until his preliminary examination at 9 a.m. March 22, according to a Dearborn police press release.
On March 1, police responded to the 17600 block of Michigan Avenue near the Southfield Freeway about 7:50 p.m. on a report of shooting.
Upon arriving to the scene, officers found Sherrill standing outside of the vehicle and also observed Hardy on the ground near the driver’s door of the vehicle. Hardy was pronounced dead at the scene by Fire Department personnel, according to the police press release.
Police alleged Sherrill shot and killed Hardy while he was riding as a passenger in the rear seat of the vehicle. Further information will be made available at the preliminary examination.
“This loss of life is tragic and on behalf of the Dearborn Police Department, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim,” Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a March 2 press release.
