Sounding Light and Renaissance Voices to perform in Music at Cherry Hill

May 24, 2019 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

Concert in Dearborn on Friday, May 31

DEARBORN — The nationally acclaimed choral group Sounding Light will perform at 7:30 p.m. May 31. This concert is part of the Music at Cherry Hill concert series at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church, 24110 Cherry Hill Road.

Sounding Light will be joined by Renaissance Voices, a women’s ensemble based at Henry Ford College directed by G. Kevin Dewey

Admission is free; freewill offerings will be accepted.

Sounding Light performed at the 2017 National Convention of the American Choral Directors Association. Now in its 16th season, the ensemble is led by founder Tom Trenney, minister of music at First-Plymouth Church in Lincoln, Neb. Trenney’s recordings are featured regularly on public radio, and his choral compositions have been sung by collegiate and church choirs across the country.

During the May 31 concert, both ensembles will offer an uplifting program, titled “We Will Rise,” featuring the music of J.S. Bach, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Moses Hogan, Craig Hella Johnson, Abbie Betinis and Tom Trenney, as well as beloved hymns, spirituals and folk songs — promising to lift spirits, revive souls and restore hope.
