Registration also under way for outdoor swim lessons
DEARBORN – The city’s outdoor pool season is just around the corner, and residents can prepare by purchasing swim tags and registering for outdoor swimming lessons at the service desk of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.
Dearborn’s outdoor pool season gets under way May 25 with the opening of Dunworth Pool.
Ten Eyck Pool will open June 14, while Lapeer and Summer-Stephens will begin operation June 15.
Ford Woods Pool, which has undergone deconstruction and a complete rebuild — resulting in a more modern and expansive facility with additional amenities — is scheduled to open later this summer.
Six types of swim tags, good for admittance to Dearborn’s outdoor pools this summer, are available. Infants under age 2 are free.
• Preschool, $35. Parents must present a copy of the child’s birth certificate and proof of residency.
• Youth (ages 17 and under), $55. Must present school-issued identification card.
• Adult (ages 18-59), $65. Must present proof of residency.
• Senior (ages 60 and over), $55. Must present proof of residency.
• Family (both parents and all children under the age of 18), $135. Proof of residency for parents and birth certificates for children are required.
• Non-Resident, $120.
Pool tags must be sewn on swim suits or towels prior to admittance.
Swim lessons, conducted Monday through Thursday in two-week sessions, feature instruction at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and run for 30 minutes. Make-up lessons, if necessary, are held on Fridays.
Sessions offered at Dunworth Pool run June 17 to 27, July 8 to 18,
July 22 to Aug. 1 and Aug. 5 to 15.
Sessions offered at Lapeer, Summer Stephens and Ten Eyck Pools run June 17 to 27, July 8 to 18 and July 22 to Aug. 1.
Cost: $60 for Dearborn residents and $80 for non-residents. All participants must also purchase a swim tag.
