Coast Guard recovers body from Detroit River

WYANDOTTE – The Coast Guard recovered the body of an unidentified man the morning of July 2 from the Detroit River near Grassy Island, Deputy Police Chief Archie Hamilton confirmed.

The cause of death was unknown pending autopsy results. The man’s age and ethnicity were unknown. It was estimated the body had been in the river for at least a week. There was no identification on the man’s body.

Hamilton said a call about the body came from an unidentified source.
