DEARBORN β The owners of Stormy Records are preparing to celebrate 20 years of being in business.
Opened by the husband and wife musical duo, Carl and Windy Weber in the summer of 1999, the shop, at 13306 Michigan Ave., has seen many changes, both in physical locations and in the way the record business has been a roller coaster of ups and downs.
The one constant, through all 20 years, is the support of long standing customers and the friendships forged with them the Webers said. Stormy Records employees pride themselves in knowing their customers by name, and their dog’s names too.
As dog lovers, their current location is adorned with a collection of record covers that feature dogs.
“You know, you have to have some fun with it,β Carl Weber said. βAnd why not bring our love of dogs and music together? They go hand in paw.β
To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Stormy Records will host a daylong celebration of art, live music, snacks and in-store specials from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 20. Scheduled to play are Davin Brainard of PDM and Time Stereo (with special guest The Electric Bear), Harmonic Conversion, and Distorted Earth. More musical acts to be announced, the Webers said.
Light refreshments will be available all day, and dogs on a leash are welcome.
