TAYLOR – Two men were arrested Aug. 20 after an early morning break-in at Recoil Firearms Gun Shop and Shooting Range, 22509 Ecorse Road, possibly solving other related crimes in the region.
Taylor Communications Director Karl Ziomek said a silent alarm was triggered at 2:30 a.m., and police officers established a perimeter after discovering two people inside the building. After 20 minutes inside the store, the men attempted to exit by breaking a front window.
As the suspects exited the building, one was immediately arrested. The other tried to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.
The men reportedly entered the building by climbing onto the roof. They left several bags of guns near the front door of the store when they were preparing to exit.
Westland police reported a recent gun shop robbery, with the suspect description matching those of the men apprehended in Taylor.
Taylor police officials are working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as well as others in the region, to discover possible connections with other local larcenies.
