DEARBORN — A Dearborn man charged with sending sexually explicit texts to a 14-year-old girl was placed under a $50,000 bond, 10 percent and will be required to wear a GPS tether if released.

The terms for Mourad Jawad, 47, were announced during a probably cause conference in front of 19th District Court Judge Mark Somers on Sept. 6. A preliminary examination of the evidence against Jawed is scheduled for Sept. 13.

Jawad was arraigned Aug. 30 on the formal charges of child sexually abusive commercial activity, and accosting children for immoral purposes, according to the court records.

Jawad was arrested after the 14-year-old’s mother allegedly found text messages from him on her daughter’s phone and reported them to Dearborn police. He is accused of sending an explicit photo as well.

Before his arrest, Jawad worked as an emergency medical technician for a private ambulance company in Taylor.
