John Walker, organist
DEARBORN — Music at Cherry Hill will present internationally acclaimed organist John Walker in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019.
This is the fourth season of concerts, attracting local and national musicians to perform at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church, 24110 Cherry Hill Road.
Freewill offerings will be accepted.
Walker has performed in recital and as concerto soloist throughout North America, Europe and Asia. In April, Walker received the Distinguished Artist Award from the American Guild of Organists “for his illustrious career as a church musician, educator and performer and for his faithful service to the American Guild of Organists.”
Walker’s concert at Cherry Hill will include works by American and internationally known composers Arnatt, Bach, Sweelinck, Ginastera, Travis, Near, Weaver and Painter.

Mark Phillips, pastor of Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church.
A practitioner of the art of sacred music, Walker is a minister of music emeritus at Brown Memorial Park Avenue Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, following distinguished tenures at Shadyside Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, The Riverside Church in New York City, and First United Methodist Church in Palo Alto, Calif.
A past president and fellow of the American Guild of Organists, Walker is professor of organ performance at Baltimore’s Peabody Institute of Music. He holds a doctor of musical arts degree from Stanford University as well as two master of music degrees cum laude from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. In 1999, he was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to teach and perform in Taiwan.
