Dearborn trucker dies in Illinois crash

DEARBORN — Maher Qaid-Hassan Adam, 38, of Dearborn died in a single-vehicle crash while driving a semi-truck on eastbound I-70 in Illinois Oct. 30.

The crash occurred at 10:30 a.m. three miles west of Effingham near mile marker 88. According to Illinois State Police, Adam left the south side of the road and traveled down an embankment, striking a ditch and coming to rest in a tree line.

Adam was taken to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital by Abbott emergency medical services where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
