MELVINDALE – Two candidates are seeking outgoing City Clerk Diana Zarazua’s job: Lisa Cadez and Linda Land.

Land did not respond to the questions sent to her.

Cadez said she hopes her honesty, strong work ethic and understanding of Melvindale’s diverse culture will convince residents to vote for her.

“I am ready to go to work for our new mayor and council, as we work together through the many challenges our city will face the next four years,” she said. “If elected, I will immediately coordinate training with Lansing to ensure that the clerk’s office is up to date on the most current policies, procedures and processes for the city.”

She said her top priority during her term will be to improve awareness of the city’s election processes for all residents.

“I would also like to bring voter registration to some of our city events, such as Melvindale Days and the Melvindale Street Fair, for residents who are unable to make it to city hall during normal work hours,” Cadez said.
