Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Estaban Reyes-Feliz, a native of Lincoln Park, assigned to Navy Cargo Handling Battalion 1, checks serial numbers of high performance cargo slings while conducting an inventory of their hatch box onboard the Military Sealift Command’s maritime Prepositioning Force Container, roll-on/roll-off and mobile landing platform ship USNS Dahl during a training evolution. NCHB-1, Detachment Guam, assigned to Commander, Task Force 75, is the Navy’s only active duty cargo handling battalion. They are a rapidly deployable unit of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, capable of loading and discharging ships and aircraft in all-climatic and threat conditions.
