ALLEN PARK – Police are seeking a heavy-set, white male who robbed the Huntington Bank inside Meijer, 3565 Fairlane Drive, the afternoon of Dec. 19.
The man, who was wearing a gray sweatshirt, passed a note to the bank teller, and fled the store with $1,912 in cash in small denomination bills.
The note reportedly contained the words, “Give me all the bills in the till.” The clerk handed the cash to the suspect, which included ones, fives, 10s and 20s, without an envelope, per instructions. The robber demanded the note back, and placed the cash and paper in his sweatshirt pocket prior to leaving the store through the south doors.
The clerk said that the suspect did not speak at any time during the holdup.
The robber was described as overweight, weighing about 360 pounds, about 50 years old, and approximately 6 feet tall. His gray sweatshirt had the hood pulled up, and he was wearing sunglasses, blue jeans and black shoes. His facial hair was described as gray stubble.
While the suspect did not say he had a gun, he kept a hand in his sweatshirt pocket throughout the encounter.
Huntington Bank policy required the location employees to contact their security personnel before calling police officers. Store and bank surveillance footage was provided to the police department, including possible vehicle information, which was not released.
