TAYLOR – Shooting suspect Juddson Roberts, 21, of Grosse Ile Township, was arraigned March 5 in 23rd District Court by Judge Joseph Slaven.

Roberts is charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of assault with intent to commit murder and two counts of felony firearm. He was remanded into custody, with no bond and is being held in the Wayne County Jail.

Roberts was taken into custody by Taylor police officers March 2 as a suspect in the non-fatal shooting which occurred about 4 a.m. Feb. 29 near Zeigler Street and Eureka Road.

The suspect and victim knew each other, and both attended the same party the night of the shooting. Later, they were alone together in a vehicle, in which the victim was the driver and Roberts was the front seat passenger. When they were stopped at a stop sign, police said, Roberts exited the vehicle, then shot the victim twice in the face at close range, before fleeing on foot.

The victim was able to call 911 for help and units arrived within minutes. He was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital for treatment, where he underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

A Taylor police official said the 20-year-old victim has a long recovery period, and will be in the hospital for an extended period.
Police officials are not identifying the victim or any details pertaining to the motive at this time.
