Dearborn hosting free Census Family Fun Day March 22

March 13, 2020 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

Wayne County residents who respond to the 2020 U.S. Census March 22 can gain access to the free Family Fun Day at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn.

Wayne County residents, are invited to fill out the 2020 Census form that day to qualify for free activities at the Ford Center from noon to 4 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Wayne United and Wayne County. Census professionals will be on hand assisting adults with completing the Census.

For those responding to the Census that day, there will be access to the climbing wall, swimming pool, fitness center and track. Children also can enjoy a bounce house, face painting, hot dogs, clowns, balloons and Dynamike the Magician.

Filling out the Census helps all communities in many ways. It helps determine the amount of federal funds that are distributed for social services, public safety, libraries, roads and bridges.

Each person counted is said to represent $3,000 a year in federal funding, or $30,000 over the next 10 years until the 2030 Census. It also determines the number of Congress members that Michigan and all states are allocated.

Individual household answers are kept confidential by law.
