DEARBORN — Dearborn resident Jawad Bazzi, 25, turned himself in Aug. 31 at the Dearborn Police Station in connection to a road rage incident the day before, that ended in a shooting.
Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said Bazzi surrendered on the advice of his attorney. Bazzi was arraigned Sept. 2 in front of 19th District Court Judge Mark Somers.
His bond was set at $200,000, 10 percent. Bazzi is currently out on bond after paying the $20,000. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 11 with Somers.
About 6 p.m. Aug. 30, police responded to the 7100 block of Oakman Boulevard on a report of a shooting.
Through an investigation, detectives were able to determine that the shooting was not a random act of violence and that Bazzi had known the victim from a prior incident in Dearborn.
The 37-year-old Dearborn resident was transported to Beaumont Hospital-Dearborn for treatment of multiple non-fatal gunshot wounds to the back.
Bazzi was identified as a person of interest and police released a description and photo of his vehicle asking for assistance from the public. Haddad said the truck was recovered in Plymouth.
