Farmington Hills man found dead in vehicle

DEARBORN — A Farmington Hills man was found dead Sept. 23 in a pickup truck in the area of Michigan Avenue and Schlaff.

Police responded to the scene about 5:30 p.m. on a report of a deceased individual. Darius Whiting, 48, was found dead at the scene of gunshot wounds, police said.

Detectives and crime scene investigators spoke with witnesses and gathered evidence. A press release from police said based on the information they have, the shooting does not appear to be a random act.

Police are investigating this incident and additional details will be released as they become available.

“Our condolences go out to Mr. Whiting’s family during this trying time,” Police Chief Ronald Haddad said. “Rest assured, the Dearborn Police Department will use all available resources to apprehend the persons involved. We are urging the public to come forward with any information regarding this matter.”
