ALLEN PARK — International Wholesale, 400 Allen Road, was cited for violating COVID-19 workplace safety violations, according to a Dec. 22 Michigan State Police news release.
The reason behind the $3,500 fine included the lack of a preparedness and response plan and failing to conduct the daily health screening including a questionnaire.
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration initiated an inspection in response to an employee complaint. Inspection dates were listed as Sept. 9 to Nov. 16 on the citation document.
The four other Michigan businesses that were cited by MIOSHA were, Integrity Business Solutions LLC in Grand Rapids; Dr. Taylor’s family Dental Center in Waterford; Andy’s Pizza Inc. in Jackson; and Kroger Fuel Center in Roseville.
Each has 15 working days from receipt of the citations to contest the violations and penalties. Citations included suggestions to fix the hazards to protest employees.
Also, employers must provide proof to MIOSHA that abatement has been completed.
Any of the cited businesses can choose to enter into a penalty reduction agreement with MIOSHA and abate noted hazards by the abatement date provided within the citation and will receive a 50 percent reduction in penalties, the news release said.
By entering into the agreement, an employer must also agree to not seek an appeal.
International Wholesale has until Jan. 5 to address the hazards in its citation.
