ALLEN PARK — A man living at a house in the 150 block of Champaign Road told police Jan. 8 that his garage had been broken into.

Police were told that the man saw his son beating on his doors at 2, 4 and 7 a.m., but refused to answer and went back to bed. The resident said his son is a drug addict, has not lived in the house for the last six to eight months and doesn’t have any belongings at the house.

The resident went out to his garage about 8 a.m. and found the side door hasp lock was broken off to gain entry. He last saw the lock was secure at 6 p.m. Jan. 7. The resident did not see his son break into the garage, but was certain he did it to sleep inside the car parked in the garage. Blankets that were used to cover the car were placed inside of the car as a makeshift bed.

According to the report, the resident installed the door hasp because his son used to break into the garage to sleep. The resident was provided with a complaint number and advised by police that if son returns to contact them and a trespass can be advised.
