WYANDOTTE – The city hall second floor will soon be more secure, with the City Council approving a $71,350 bid for the installation of security glass from Total Security Systems of Fowlerville.
The council approved the project last September for the engineering floor lobby.
TSS provides and installs custom bulletproof barriers for work environments, including government offices, financial institutions, health care, corporations and schools. The company’s turnkey solutions include everything from threat assessment to final installation.
No specific threats were mentioned as a precursor for the project, but that it is better to be proactive than reactive. It was noted that it would serve as a COVID-19 screening barrier, as well.
TSS was the single bidder in what is a specialized field. City Engineer Greg Mayhew said the city did not get any quotes initially, and had to encourage TSS to provide a quote. The company also supplied the security for the ground floor customer service area.
