WYANDOTTE — A 35-year-old Wyandotte woman was charged with operating while intoxicated, narcotic possession and driving with a suspended license the night of May 6, when a police officer found her slumped over the wheel of her vehicle at westbound Eureka Road at Fort Street, where she likely stopped for the traffic light.
The woman’s foot on the brake was the only thing preventing the vehicle from moving forward. After trying unsuccessfully to awaken the woman, the police officer, who feared she might have overdosed based on drugs he saw inside the vehicle, broke the window with his hand and quickly put the vehicle in park.
The police officer’s hand and wrist were cut by the broken glass.
Fire Department personnel stabilized the woman medically, and she was transported to a local hospital.
